Of course other things are important toi, such as texture, harmonic richness etc but I find AS to be the least digital software platform I’ve heard. The sound quality of Studio makes my Nucleus Plus sound like a sheet has been placed over the speakers. I’ve been using Audirvana for two years, about the the sound quality it is the best player. I owned a high-end store for many years and designed loudspeakers and it was always the same when customers brought in their music… if you use non classical music or non acoustic music then you get so many different flavours of ice cream… you can then pick a component or software platform according to what you like and what suits your system but in order to evaluate transparency which for me is the ultimate quality of a component (some people call it natural sound) is to use recordings of acoustic instruments such as from Opus 3 or good classical music recordings. I will never use Audirvana Studio as I don’t support the renting business.

I have always found that using nonacoustic recordings such as rock or pop music tells you very level about the transparency and sound quality of a component. Roon offers the choice of using file level metadata or the various external sources Roon uses. Beginning 2 days ago, upon restarting my computer, Audirvana no longer brings up.

Perhaps some listeners don’t want to hear what their favourite recordings sound like? One major issue is that the majority of my music is classical and while I have it very neatly catalogued on the HD in folders, Audirvana doesn't present it this way and I suspect that Roon would be similar. It might have to do with system matching and source material. Stream TIDAL on all Audirvana high-fidelity devices. Audirvanas sound quality is at the same level as Roon which is as good as it gets today. With the latest upgrades the GUI looks great.

To me, it sounds much better than Foobar and it is much more easier to use. It’s odd that there is so much conflicting opinion about the SQ. Through BluOS, enjoy TIDALs high-fidelity sound quality and expertly curated editorial. Audirvana is my favorite software player and I consider it one of the best. With classical music, my main love, I am in the recording venue, much more so than with 3.5 and other players I’ve tried. I play only downloaded files, most are high rez. Continuing the discussion from Audirvāna Studio SQ is bad… nevermind I needed a better amp!:
